A video is going viral after an incident involving one white teen and seven black teens was caught on camera just outside a church festival in Norwood, Ohio. After the group stopped the 13-year-old to have a little chat, let’s just say it didn’t stop there.
According to WKRC-TV, the teen victim actually tried to keep the incident a secret, making sure not to tell his grandmother, Mary Baker, but then the video started spreading on Facebook. Once she caught wind of it, she immediately took the boy to a doctor, who told the frightened grandmother to keep an eye on him for signs of a concussion.
All caught on video outside the Holy Trinity Church festival, the teen was approached and eventually stopped by a group of black kids. However, the “conversation” they were looking to have didn’t involve words so much.
After briefly figuring out who would hit the 13-year-old first, a member of the mob sucker punched the kid from behind before 6 more started swinging. He was eventually knocked to the ground, which prompted the group to start kicking their victim.
Only showing mercy out of fear, the group eventually scattered like cowards and ran away. Too bad for them, police have since used the video to identify 6 of the 7 attackers and will likely be charging each of them with assault.
The video was actually shot by Kim Watkins’ son. The mother had instructed her child to record any suspicious activity pertaining to that group of black youths, as she had previous encounters with them before. Just earlier that day, they had actually threatened her son as well.
“I came out and tried to shoo them away,” she explained. “They cursed at me, they called me names they threatened to shoot my house up.”
As for Mary Baker, she’s only been left wondering how a parent could be so negligent that something like this could happen. “What if it happened to them? How would they feel? They need to get some discipline. Apparently, someone’s not paying attention,” she declared. “You guys don’t know what that video’s like to watch when it’s your own kid. And I don’t know how a parent can watch it — even the kids that did that. How could they watch that video and accept that?”
Lt. Ron Murphy of the Norwood Police Department has since come forward to offer a bit of relief, explaining to the public, “You see these videos on social media and it’s getting very disturbing to me that nothing seems to be done but we’re going to do something.”
It’s a shame that in this day and age a parent needs to watch over their children every second if they don’t want anything to happen to them. I’d just like to see these punks do the same when the numbers are a bit more balanced. A coward never goes looking for a fair fight, and that is exactly what a bully is.
