The 64-year-old left his home on New Year’s Eve at 10:30pm to gather kindling, however he fell and broke his neck. He said he shouted for help, yet it was no great in alarming his neighbor who was about a fourth of a mile away.
The temperature plunged to 24 degrees as Bob lay incapacitated in the snow, Kelsey as yet yapping close by. The canine kept Bob from succumbing to hypothermia by lying over him and licking his face and hands to keep him conscious.
As Bob’s closest neighbor carries on a quarter mile away, it wasn’t until 6:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day that another adjacent inhabitant came over and discovered him lying oblivious on the ground.
Crisis teams took Bob to the McLaren Northern Michigan Emergency Department in Petoskey, where specialists determined him as hypothermic and to have herniated plates in his neck and back. The last wounds were compacting his spinal rope and causing loss of motion in his legs.
Specialists said that Bob’s center body temperature was under 70 degrees Fahrenheit.’I was amazed to discover that I didn’t have any frostbite,’ Bob said. ‘I am certain it was a direct result of Kelsey’s assurance.’
